Corporate lawyer

To become a corporate law, the student should complete a degree. He or she may complete a degree in finance or commerce field so that he or she can get brief idea about corporate laws. The student should study nearly for seven years to attain a degree in law and specialize in corporate law. After attaining a degree, he should preferably apply for a LSAT test. If he scores good marks in the test, then he can gain admission is a reputed law institute.
While studying law, he can choose corporate law as his major subject. After completing his Juris degree, he should appear for the Bar examination so that he can be admitted into the bar. Then he can obtain license to commence his independent practice. After he obtains license from the State, then he can practice law only in his state. If he wants to practice corporate law in other states, then he should obtain special license. After passing the bar examination, the students can be admitted into law firms also. The bar examination is a test conducted to test the students aptitude, character and knowledge.
He can be admitted into law firms for various positions. He is initially appointed by the law firm as a Junior Corporate Associate. After being appointed as Associate he has to undertake numerous responsibilities such as documentation, reading the documents of the clients and making corrections if necessary, conducting meetings, faxing etc. The corporate law should also undertake responsibilities such as conducting reviews with clients, drafting memorandum of association and articles of association, filing returns, and other type of research work. The corporate lawyer has to study many aspects of finance and other events of the corporate.
A person who has specialized in corporate law can also work as a legal advisor in any corporate firm. He should deal with many issues working with corporate such as employee rights, tax compliances, mergers, contract laws, amalgamations, acquisitions etc. He deals with the commercial transactions of a corporate. Usually he performs many duties and gives advice about legal compliances from commencement of a business to dissolution of a corporate firm. He gives advice about shareholder’s policies, dividend policies, and legal compliances while raising capital, compliance with taxes, creditors policies etc.
He also protects the interests of the corporate. He should be well-versed with the matters of business law and finance law also. He also resolves the legal issues related to business entity. Most of the corporate lawyer work in private legal offices. Today many corporate lawyers also work in governmental agencies, private corporations, and most of them even practice independently.
If the student wants to practice corporate law in U.S. then he must pass the American Bar Association Examination. He should study law in a reputed institute that is accredited by the ABA. A student who wants to study corporate law further he should attain a degree in economics, accounting, business and finance.
Many students today are also studying their MBA degree in finance or law while pursuing Juris Doctor Degree.
